Around the 17th century, Elixir de Spa was distilled by monks of the Order of the Capuchins in the Spa region. In 1858, a local distillery “Schaltin, Pierry et Cie” took over the production of this liqueur, which is prepared from more than 40 plants and herbs from the Spa region.

In 1956, Elixir de Spa was bought by FX de Beukelaer. Elixir de Spa is also known for its digestive properties. The oldest 'Court Supplier' certificate was in the name of Elixir de Spa and dates from 1869.

This spicy liqueur is also ideal for making a fresh cocktail or a delicious dish!

Elixir d'Anvers is delicious from us! It has been a registered trademark since 1870. The company survived the two World Wars and experienced steady growth. Elixir d'Anvers is today recognized as a Belgian elixir, because it fits within a Belgian tradition. Today it is also drunk far beyond the country's borders, for example in China, Japan and even New Zealand.

Since 2011, Elixir d'Anvers has been a traditionally recognized regional product. “Both the boilers and the barrels used are still the originals. We still work just as we did at the end of the 19th century.” The recipe is also unchanged and the ingredients come from the region.
